The Île de la Cité is one of two natural islands located in the Seine River in Paris. It is in the centre of Paris and is home to the famous Notre Dame cathedral (built from 1163), Louis IX’s Sainte-Chapelle (built between 1242 - 1248), Palais de Justice as well as the Conciergerie prison where Marie Antoinette awaited her execution.
